The pitch

Sticky for Claude is a native macOS app that puts Claude in floating sticky-note windows that stay above every app, including true fullscreen. It uses the same window layer as Spotlight, so it needs no screen-recording permission and no hacks. Double-tap ⌘ summons or hides it from anywhere; windows auto-fade when idle.

Each window can be a plain Claude chat, a full Claude Code session pinned to a project folder (slash commands, tools, permission modes), or a real terminal running the Claude Code CLI. Notably, the official Claude desktop app cannot stay on top of other windows, when it accidentally does, users file it as a bug.

One-liners you can quote

“Claude, floating above everything on your Mac, even true fullscreen, one double-tap of ⌘ away.”
“Claude's own desktop app lives in the app switcher. Sticky for Claude lives above it.”
“It treats an AI assistant as a system-level utility rather than another app to Cmd-Tab to.”

The story

Sticky for Claude is built by a solo independent developer who lives in fullscreen (IDE, design tools) and kept losing his flow Cmd-Tabbing out to talk to Claude. Spotlight can appear over fullscreen apps, so he spent months applying the same windowing technique (non-activating panels, the window flags Apple designed for auxiliary overlays) to Claude windows. Sticky for Claude shipped in 2026, built solo, with Claude Code writing a serious part of the app itself.

Boilerplate

Sticky for Claude is a native macOS app that puts Claude, chat, full Claude Code sessions, or a real terminal, in floating windows that stay above every app, even true fullscreen, using the same window layer as Spotlight. No account, local-only history, runs on the user's own Claude subscription or API key. macOS 14+, Apple Silicon. 7-day free trial, then $29 one-time.
